ICCI Participates in a High-Level Food Processing Workshop with a MoFPI Delegation in Milan
On May 26, 2025, the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Italy (ICCI) was honored to participate in the high-level Business Workshop on Food Processing, held in Milan at the Assolombarda headquarters. The event was organized by the Consulate General of India in Milan, in collaboration with Assolombarda and Anima Confindustria, and marked a key milestone in strengthening bilateral cooperation in the food processing and agri-industrial sectors.
The workshop was held to mark the visit of Shri D. Praveen Devasigamani, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI), Government of India, who led a delegation dedicated to promoting India’s rapidly growing food processing sector and attracting global investment.
As a keynote speaker, Joint Secretary D. Praveen presented an overview of the tremendous opportunities available in India—particularly in food processing technology, packaging innovation, and industrial machinery. He highlighted India’s ongoing policy support for global investors, the evolving consumer market, and the potential for joint development and technology transfer between Indian and Italian industries.
The workshop also featured key presentations by representatives from Invest India and FICCI, who outlined strategic roadmaps for market entry and engagement within India’s food ecosystem. Together, the delegation provided a comprehensive overview of the country’s policy priorities, sectoral trends, and the role of international partnerships in driving innovation and value creation.
ICCI was represented by Secretary General Luciano Pettoello Mantovani and Valentino Durante, who, in addition to participating in the plenary session, had the opportunity to hold a one-on-one meeting with Joint Secretary Praveen, as well as delegates from FICCI and Invest India. The discussion focused on future models of collaboration, the positioning of Italian food processing companies in the Indian market, and the role of ICCI in supporting ongoing investment and technology exchange initiatives.
The presence of ICCI and its members at this important event reaffirms our commitment to serving as a bridge between Indian and Italian businesses—facilitating sector-specific dialogue, connecting institutional actors, and supporting companies in unlocking the full potential of Indo-Italian cooperation.
We would like to thank the Consulate General of India in Milan for its kind invitation and congratulate all the organizing partners on a successful event that reflects the strength and vitality of our bilateral relationship.
