ICCI Participates in the “Tourism and Multiculturalism” Workshop at Palazzo Giureconsulti, Milan
On May 22, 2025, the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Italy (ICCI) was pleased to participate in and contribute to the successful workshop “Tourism and Multiculturalism, ” held at the prestigious Palazzo Giureconsulti in Milan.
Organized by the Milan-Monza-Brianza-Lodi Chamber of Commerce and carried out by Formaper, the initiative focused on deepening the understanding of hospitality in an increasingly globalized and intercultural context. The workshop provided a valuable opportunity to explore how Italy’s tourism industry can adapt to the evolving needs of international visitors from culturally diverse regions, including India, Japan, and the Middle East.
As a valued institutional partner, ICCI was invited to curate and lead the session dedicated to India, offering a comprehensive overview of the growing importance of Indian tourism in Italy—with a specific focus on Milan as a destination of strategic interest for Indian travelers.
The session, moderated by Cecilia Giannini on behalf of ICCI, brought together a panel of experienced experts to present data, share practical insights, and offer tools to industry professionals eager to engage with the Indian market. The discussion was enriched by contributions from:
- Samanta Stolfi, Zucchetti Hospitality
- Edoardo Vittucci, Fidenza Village
- Lucrezia Maniscotti, Sangam Academy
Together, the speakers highlighted:
- Key trends in Indian outbound tourism, including the rise in leisure travel, luxury shopping, and wellness-focused trips
- Expectations and preferences of Indian tourists, such as the demand for personalized experiences, vegetarian or Indian cuisine options, and multilingual communication
- Practical tools and recommendations for hospitality operators to better serve and attract Indian customers
This culturally focused dialogue highlighted the importance of adopting an inclusive approach to tourism—one that not only respects but also celebrates the cultural nuances of travelers from diverse backgrounds. Milan, with its rich heritage, appeal in fashion and design, and excellent connectivity, is uniquely positioned to become a preferred destination for Indian visitors.
ICCI extends its sincere thanks to the Milan Chamber of Commerce, Formaper, and all participating organizations and experts for the opportunity to contribute to this timely and forward-looking discussion. This collaboration marks another step toward fostering a deeper understanding between Italy and India, not only in commerce and trade, but also in people-to-people connections and cultural exchange.
As part of its mission, the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Italy remains committed to supporting Italian institutions and businesses in developing tourism offerings that are culturally informed, inclusive, and aligned with emerging global trends. At the same time, the ICCI continues its work in monitoring and promoting Indo-Italian economic and social relations, with a particular focus on high-impact sectors such as tourism, hospitality, fashion, and education.
Stay tuned for future initiatives as ICCI continues to bridge the gap between business and culture in India and Italy.
