Event by ICCI and ID India Design Week at The Wilde Club – Craft, Material and Modernity: Indian and Italian Design in Dialogue
On April 20th 2026 hosted at The Wilde private members club in Milan, the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Italy – ICCI had the pleasure of co-organizing, together with Ogaan Media – India Design ID and Elle Decor India, an evening that truly embodied the spirit of cross-cultural exchange.
The room was packed with Indian and Italian architects, designers, brands, representatives from Milan’s luxury fashion houses, and members of The Wilde. What began as a talk evolved into a vibrant and extended dialogue that fully engaged the audience — a powerful testament to the natural affinity between Indian and Italian approaches to craft, material intelligence and contemporary design.
The conversation was expertly moderated by Misha Bains, Fair Director at India Design ID and Publisher of Elle Decor India, who guided the discussion with insight and depth.
A heartfelt thank you to our exceptional speakers:
• Ashiesh Shah (Atelier Ashiesh Shah) – one of India’s most influential contemporary architects, known for blending materiality, minimalism and cultural depth.
• Alessandro Biamonti – architect and Professor at Politecnico di Milano, exploring architecture as a cultural and territorial narrative.
• Alessandra Guanziroli – Architect, Villa restoration expert and strategic connector between creative industries and international markets.
Special thanks to Christian Layolle and The Wilde team for making this meaningful gathering possible.
The evening was also an important milestone: Ogaan Media / India Design ID and the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Italy – ICCI have officially signed an MoU establishing a partnership for the Italian market.
As official partners, we will:
– Encourage greater participation of Italian companies at India Design ID
– Foster structured interactions between the Italian and Indian architecture and design communities
– Co-organize events in both India and Italy to strengthen long-term collaboration
This is more than an event. It is the beginning of a stronger design corridor between India and Italy — rooted in craft, driven by innovation, and built on dialogue.
