ICCI Participates in High-Level Talk with India’s Finance Minister at Palazzo Clerici, Milan
On May 6th, 2025, the Indian Chamber of Commerce in Italy (ICCI) had the honour of participating in a prestigious Lunch Talk hosted by ISPI – Istituto per gli Studi di Politica Internazionale and the Italian Group of the Trilateral Commission. The event was held at the historic Palazzo Clerici in the heart of Milan and featured a keynote address by Her Excellency Nirmala Sitharaman, Honourable Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs of India.
A Strategic Dialogue on India-Europe Relations
Minister Sitharaman’s address, titled “India and Europe: Strengthening Ties”, set the tone for a high-level discussion on the evolving strategic and economic relationship between India, Italy, and the broader European Union. With India’s growing global role and its increasing economic and geopolitical engagement, the conversation emphasized the mutual benefits of deeper cooperation in trade, investment, sustainability, digitalization, and innovation.
The event gathered a carefully curated group of distinguished leaders from international institutions, government ministries, diplomatic missions, think tanks, and leading companies from both India and Italy. It offered a rare opportunity for a direct exchange of views on global economic trends, bilateral relations, and shared strategic priorities.
ICCI’s Active Participation and Role
The Indian Chamber of Commerce in Italy was represented by Valentino Durante, Board Member, and Ash Gujral, Advisory Board Member. Their participation highlighted ICCI’s pivotal role in promoting Indo-Italian business relations and facilitating institutional and commercial dialogue between the two countries.
Durante and Gujral contributed actively to the discussion, reaffirming ICCI’s commitment to supporting Italian companies exploring opportunities in India and vice versa. They emphasized the Chamber’s role in building a reliable and structured ecosystem for bilateral cooperation, fostering synergies between Indian and Italian enterprises, and serving as a platform for strategic dialogue across the public and private sectors.
Their engagement also reflected ICCI’s growing presence at international and institutional forums, positioning the Chamber as a recognized voice and trusted stakeholder in Italy-India relations.
Looking Ahead: A Reinforced Commitment
ICCI’s participation in this high-level initiative marks another step in its broader strategy to strengthen the Indo-Italian business corridor, support institutional partnerships, and elevate the role of business diplomacy in global affairs.
We extend our gratitude to ISPI and the Italian Group of the Trilateral Commission for organizing such a timely and meaningful exchange, and for inviting ICCI to be part of this important conversation. Events such as this one not only provide insight into global economic dynamics but also underscore the value of strategic dialogue in shaping the future of cross-border collaboration.
